MIRA

MIRA

MIRA is a project from Velké Bílovice in Moravia, created by Mirka Nestarcová and Milan Nestarec. The winery describes itself as “a winery within a winery,” but MIRA is really Mira’s own space. What started as a side project has become an important part of their work. Before wine, Mirka was a ballerina and dancer, and that background still shapes the producer’s identity: the wines are guided less by fixed rules and more by feeling, openness, and trust in the moment.

In the vineyards, MIRA tries to give the vines more freedom. Many plots are farmed with minimal pruning or no pruning at all, and the team avoids forcing the plants into one strict model. The vineyards are organically managed and certified, and the fruit comes from Velké Bílovice and Moravský Žižkov, from loess, clay, and sandy soils. MIRA focuses on single-variety wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc.

In the cellar, the approach stays simple: spontaneous fermentation, aging in wood and concrete, and very little correction. The aim is not to make every year taste the same, but to let each vintage speak in its own way. One more nice detail: the labels often refer to dance pioneers, which connects the bottles back to Mira’s own story.
