MER is Richard Stávek’s take on Merlot in a more original, short-maceration style. The grapes spend 3 days fermenting on the skins and are foot stomped before pressing, then the wine rests for 12 months in acacia barrel. This gives it a deep colour, lively fruit and a slightly unusual texture for Merlot.
In the glass, it feels open and expressive, with candied cherry, fruit punch and baking spice, balanced by a savoury note that keeps it grounded. It is a good choice for people who enjoy wines with plenty of fruit but also want something a little less classic and more personal.
