Porfía Blanco is a white wine from the Jerez area, made from a rare blend of native southern Spanish grapes such as Listán Blanco, Cañocazo, Mantúa de Pilas, Vigiriega, and Mouratón. These varieties, many of which nearly disappeared after phylloxera, bring back the character of traditional vineyards of Andalucía.
The wine is crafted without biological or oxidative ageing, letting the fruit and terroir speak directly. It spends nine months in used French oak barrels of small size, which add texture without covering the freshness of the grapes. On the nose it offers notes of white flowers, lemon peel, stone fruits, and quince, with a gentle saline touch. On the palate it is light, fresh, and mineral, with a subtle citrus line and a salty finish that recalls its Atlantic influence.
Porfía Blanco is a fine example of how forgotten local grapes can create wines with both authenticity and personality, reconnecting today’s drinkers with the deep history of the region.
