MontePlou is an unusual meeting of Abruzzo and the Jura. Its name points to the blend: Montepulciano from Lammidia and Ploussard, also known as Poulsard, a light red grape from eastern France. For this cuvée, fermenting Poulsard juice from Jura winemaker Sébastien Jacques was blended with Lammidia’s own Montepulciano rosato from Rocca San Giovanni, then kept together in a single barrique.
The result is a red wine with a story that is easy to remember: an Italian base touched by a Jura grape rarely seen in Abruzzo. It also reflects Lammidia’s “uva e basta” approach, meaning “grapes and nothing else”: spontaneous fermentation, no additives, no added sulphites, no fining and no filtration. A wine for drinkers who enjoy something outside the usual path, without needing it to be complicated.
