Costabosco is La Stoppa’s separate expression of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, coming from parcels near the border between hillside and woodland. Its name comes from an old note by the estate’s founder, who marked this place as “Costa Bosco. Different whites. Malvasia.” The trees and softer light around the vineyard help the grapes ripen in their own rhythm.
The grapes are harvested by hand in several passes and are picked a little earlier than those used for La Stoppa’s Ageno, aiming for freshness and balance. Fermentation starts naturally with indigenous yeasts, and the wine spends 10 to 30 days on the skins in stainless steel before ageing in large wooden tanks and bottle. The result is a Malvasia with aromatic character, texture, and a clear link to its specific vineyard site.
