Kristinus Tramini is an orange wine from Hungary’s Balatonboglár area, made from Gewürztraminer grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested and the wine is made with a low-intervention approach, including spontaneous fermentation on the skins. This skin contact gives the wine its amber colour, gentle grip and more layered character than a typical white wine.
After fermentation, it is aged in clay eggs, then bottled unfiltered. In the glass, expect an aromatic style with notes of apricot, ripe apple, quince, citrus peel and black tea. The finish is long, with a light, pleasant bitterness that can remind you of walnut skin. It is a good choice if you enjoy expressive orange wines with texture, spice and a natural feel.
