Kristinus
Kristinus sits on the south shore of Lake Balaton in Kéthely, Hungary. The estate began making wine in 2005, and a new chapter started when CEO–winemaker Florian Zaruba and his team shifted the vineyards to biodynamic farming from 2018, earning Demeter certification in 2022. Their aim is simple: grow healthy grapes and interfere as little as possible so the place speaks in the glass.
Biodynamics shapes daily work in the vines and cellar. The team sees the estate as a living farm connected to woods, orchards, pastures and animals. In the winery they keep intervention low; some wines also mature in clay amphorae. You’ll find styles that are easy to enjoy, like pét-nat and amber (orange) wines, alongside fresh whites and reds from South Balaton.
People are at the heart of Kristinus. Florian leads the vision, vineyard and farm manager László Dober cares for the soils and vines, and Florian’s partner Janka supports the broader estate project. Visitors can stay on site and explore the working farm; the estate has even hosted a small wine cinema to bring guests closer to the region.
Expect clear, characterful wines that reflect South Balaton rather than the cellar—made for sharing with food, friends and curiosity.
