Moulin à Vent

This is a Gamay from the Moulin-à-Vent cru in Beaujolais, made to show more shape and tannin than lighter, early-drinking styles. The vines average around 40 years old and are farmed in conversion to organic methods. Fermentation is done in cement tanks with whole clusters, which can keep the wine lively while adding a light herbal or spicy touch. Aging is shared between tank and small barrels, so you get clear red-fruit notes (think cherry and strawberry) with a floral edge and a hint of peppery spice, plus a smooth but present grip. A good match for roast chicken, grilled mushrooms, pork, or simple charcuterie.
