Rapagón Blanco is a white wine from Mollina, in the Valle de Antequera area of Málaga. It is made from Pedro Ximénez, a grape often linked with sweet wines, but here shown in a dry and textured style.
The grapes come from 20-year-old vines planted on clay, iron-rich and limestone soils at 438 metres above sea level. After harvest, the fruit is destemmed and the free-run juice is fermented in stainless steel. The wine then spends 10 months on its lees, which gives it a fuller mouthfeel and a gentle savoury side.
This is a good choice for anyone looking for a Spanish white with local character, freshness, and a bit more structure than a simple everyday white.
