Gamayoptère is Antoine Lienhardt’s fresh take on Burgundy Gamay. Made from organically farmed vines in Fixin on clay-limestone soils, it shows a side of Burgundy that is still quite uncommon: a pure Gamay bottled on its own.
The wine is made with whole clusters and a short semi-carbonic maceration using native yeasts, with very little added sulfur. This keeps the fruit bright and open, while seven months of ageing mostly in stainless steel, with small portions in amphora and egg-shaped vessel, adds shape and texture without making the wine heavy.
In the glass, expect notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, cherry and violet, with a light spicy touch. The palate is lively and supple, with crunchy tannins and a clean, juicy finish. The name refers to both Gamay and beetles, reflecting the estate’s care for a healthy vineyard ecosystem.
