La Retahila Perruno by Raúl Moreno is a unique and complex orange wine from Jerez, Spain, made from the rare Perruno grape. Sourced from a century-old vineyard with albariza de barajuelas soil in Trebujena, this wine showcases a distinctive saline minerality.
The winemaking process is traditional and natural—whole-cluster foot-treading in clay tinajas, followed by fermentation with native yeasts and aging under velo de flor for 10 months in old chestnut barrels and tanks. This technique results in a wine with remarkable depth and texture.
Aromatically, it draws parallels with Alsatian Pinot Gris or Riesling, rather than typical southern Spanish whites. Expect notes of orange peel, nectarines, apricots, alongside hints of almond, honey, and exotic spices. With its delicate phenolic structure and savory, saline finish, this is a fascinating choice for adventurous wine lovers.
