Podfuck

Podfuck is a juicy Moravian red that sits somewhere between forest walk and tea break. It comes from the Zadní Hora vineyard in Velké Bílovice, an early-ripening, forest-sheltered site on loess soils, farmed organically with old vines and low yields. The blend is mostly Blaufränkisch (Frankovka) with Pinot Noir and a touch of Pinot Gris acting as a gentle bridge between the two.
The grapes are hand-harvested, macerated in open vats with manual punchdowns, then the free-run juice ages for a long time in large old Stockinger oak casks. Fermentation is spontaneous, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration and with only a tiny touch of sulfur. In the glass, expect bright acidity and flavours of cranberry, blackberry and redcurrant, with floral notes of violets, a bit of ginger spice and a light tea-like finish. A characterful, easy-to-enjoy red for when you feel like “walking up to your own horizon.”
