Matassa Brutal Orange is an orange wine made from Macabeu, a grape well suited to the warm south of France. The grapes are handled with a simple, low-intervention approach: harvested by hand, worked as whole grapes, gently foot-trodden, and fermented with native yeasts in large oak barrels.
Skin contact gives the wine its golden-orange tone and a light grip on the palate, while the schist soils add a clean mineral touch. Expect notes of peach, herbs, citrus peel, and a dry, fresh finish. It is expressive but not heavy, making it a good choice for people who enjoy natural wines with energy, texture, and a clear sense of place.
