Le Roi Riesling by L'Octavin is a distinctive orange wine made from Riesling grapes grown by Philippe Brand in Alsace. After harvesting by hand, the grapes undergo two weeks of skin contact with whole bunches. This process gives the wine its bold character and golden color. It is then aged for nine months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks, bottled without filtration or added sulphur.
This wine opens with lively aromas that might surprise—dried apples, ripe stone fruits, kumquat, and spicy orange zest. On the palate, it feels dry with a tannic grip, balanced by bright acidity. Notes of tangerine, clove, and spiced bread appear, along with a subtle hint of eucalyptus and a stony finish.
