Arenas de SantYuste is a very characterful Verdejo from Santiuste de San Juan Bautista in Segovia, made from ungrafted vines between 140 and more than 200 years old. These ancient plants grow on deep sandy and limestone soils with stones, on a high plateau at about 800–850 metres, giving the wine its fresh profile and clear mineral line.
The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed directly. Fermentation starts on its own with native yeasts, then the wine ages on its full lees in stainless steel (70%) and clay jars (30%). It is bottled without fining or filtering and without added sulphites, keeping the expression of the grape and place as pure as possible.
In the glass, Arenas de SantYuste is fragrant and open, with ripe fruit, a gentle, enveloping texture and a marked, pleasant bitterness that stretches the finish. It feels like a “village” Verdejo: clean, deep and very suitable for sharing with tapas, seafood dishes or simple seasonal cooking.
