Arbois Naturé is Savagnin in its most pure and refreshing style. “Naturé” is the old local name for this grape, and here it’s made in an ouillé (topped-up) way, so you get a bright, non-oxidative white rather than the classic nutty Jura profile.
The vines grow on blue and grey marl soils around Arbois, which bring a clear mineral edge to the wine. Grapes are picked late by hand for full flavour, then given a long, gentle pressing. Fermentation happens naturally, the wine is raised in old barrels for a few months and bottled without filtration. It’s also certified biodynamic (Demeter), so expect a very low-intervention expression.
In the glass, Naturé opens with tart, mouth-watering acidity before a wave of yellow orchard fruit, pear and lemon, with herbal and floral notes and a touch of peppery spice. Medium-bodied, dry and saline on the finish, it’s a great match for fish, seafood, white meats or mildly spiced curry dishes.
