Contre Attaque

Contre Attaque is a fresh, juicy take on Mourvèdre from the hills around Espira-de-l’Agly in Roussillon. Usually known for dark, powerful reds, here the grape is handled with a very short fermentation on whole bunches, which gives a lighter colour, bright fruit and plenty of energy. The vines grow on clay-limestone soils with touches of schist, so the wine keeps a clear mineral line beneath the fruit. Farming is organic, the grapes are picked by hand and fermented with native yeasts, then aged on fine lees in stainless steel or fiberglass, without oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered with only a tiny touch of sulphur. In the glass you can expect crunchy red berries, hints of spice and herbs, and a mouth-watering, slightly wild edge that makes each sip very moreish. Contre Attaque is a great choice for relaxed dinners and works especially well served just a little chilled.
