This Traminer from Didier Grappe is a very Jura take on the Gewürztraminer family: less heavy and perfumed, more salty and lively. The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards around Saint-Lothain and are fermented naturally, without additives and with no sulphites added, to keep the character of the fruit as pure as possible.
The wine is made in a topped-up, non-oxidative style, so you won’t find the nutty notes of classic oxidative Jura whites here. Instead, the nose brings cool ripe fruit with hints of citrus, mint and subtle spice. On the palate it is firm and linear, with a clear salty streak, bright acidity and a gentle grip that gives it structure. Flavours of quince and lemon zest stay on the tongue for a long, clean finish.
It is already delicious in its youth but has enough backbone to age for several years, making it a great choice both for drinking now and for those who like to follow how a bottle evolves over time.
