Miéga is a characterful skin-contact white from the hills of Piacenza, made entirely from Marsanne – a grape you usually find in the Rhône rather than in Emilia-Romagna. The fruit comes from two high-altitude vineyards, Cassinèra (450 m) and Campo Rotondo (550 m), which help keep the wine fresh and tense.
The grapes are hand-picked and undergo a long maceration on the skins in stainless steel, giving the wine more color, gentle tannins and a deeper flavour profile than a classic white. After pressing, it rests for several months on its lees in a 500 L acacia cask, adding texture and subtle complexity.
Miéga is completely dry and has gone through full malolactic fermentation. It is bottled directly from the cask, without fining, filtration or added preservatives, relying only on the native yeasts from the grapes. A pure, honest expression of Marsanne with a slightly wild, artisanal touch.
