Beverone is a joyful litre of pink refreshment from the hills of Rocca San Giovanni in Abruzzo. Local red and white grapes—Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Passerina—grow 500 metres above the sea on clay-limestone soils, farmed organically and biodynamically so no chemicals touch the land. Hand-picked berries ferment with their own wild yeasts in stainless steel, rest for a few months, and are bottled unfined, unfiltered and without added sulphur. The result is a light, vibrant rosato bursting with crunchy red berries, wild flowers and a salty breeze that hints at the nearby Adriatic. Its lively acidity and clean, dry finish carry it happily from aperitif through pizza night and vegetable-based plates.
