Szóló Wines
The project began with a personal decision: founder and winemaker Tímea Éless moved back to Tállya in 2010 to keep her grandparents’ last remaining parcel—just 0.3 hectares—from being sold. What started as a way to hold on to family roots became a winery built step by step with her husband, Tamás Éless, and the first Szóló label appeared in 2013.
Their priority is the vineyard. Szóló is certified biodynamic and they try to keep their impact on the land as small as possible. In both the vines and the cellar, they avoid chemicals and other additions, aiming for wines that speak clearly about Tokaj, the site, and the year.
Instead of blending everything into one “Tokaj” style, they often work parcel by parcel, with grapes typical for the region—especially Furmint and Hárslevelű, and sometimes Sárgamuskotály. You may also see different vessels in their work (from traditional barrels to amphora and concrete), chosen to support gentle winemaking rather than shape it.
