Corduixà is the lightest and most easy-going face of Sicus’ Cartoixà (Xarel·lo). It comes from a single vineyard called El Mas, planted in the 1950s on silty, calcareous soils just 7 km from the Mediterranean and about 200 metres above sea level. The old vines and the sea breeze give the wine a marked mineral and slightly salty character.
The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in the tank as whole bunches, where they undergo a long, gentle infusion-fermentation for around three months. The juice runs off under its own weight, without pressing, and then rests for seven months in stainless steel, keeping the expression clean and focused on the fruit and the place.
In the glass, expect a lively, refreshing white with notes of citrus, grapefruit zest and a touch of dried herbs and white fruit. Corduixà is made to be enjoyed in good company, especially with simple seafood or vegetable dishes.
