Radikon’s Pignoli is a rare red wine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, made entirely from the indigenous Pignolo grape. This variety is one of Italy’s scarcest and most demanding, producing wines that need years of patience before showing their full character. Radikon works just half a hectare of these vines, planted on steep limestone and marl soils near Oslavia, right on the Slovenian border.

True to the estate’s natural approach, the grapes undergo a long maceration of around 1–2 months in oak vats, followed by five years of aging in large barrels and further rest in bottle before release. This slow process shapes a wine of depth and structure, with firm tannins and remarkable aging potential.

Pignoli reveals dark fruit tones like cherry, plum, and blackberry, layered with hints of roasted nuts, coffee, tobacco, and spice. The texture is powerful yet softened by time, finishing with a long mineral persistence.

Produced in very limited quantities and bottled in Radikon’s distinctive small format, this is a wine for slow meals and reflection, pairing beautifully with rich dishes such as braised meats, game, or aged cheeses. It is both a tribute to the heritage of Friuli and a testament to Radikon’s uncompromising style.
