Puerta del Viento Mencía is an organic red wine crafted naturally in the Bierzo region of Castilla y León, Spain. Made exclusively from the Mencía grape variety grown on clay soils, these vines are impressively aged between 40 and 130 years. The vineyard is organically certified, never using pesticides or herbicides, and traditionally worked by horses or caterpillar tractors to preserve its authenticity.
This wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts and is partially fermented in old 500-liter French oak barrels. With no added sulphites, and unfined and unfiltered, it remains as natural and pure as possible. Expect aromas of minerals and violets with subtle fruit notes, making it fresh, flavorful, and gently spiced on the palate. Perfect for vegans and vegetarians who enjoy genuine, thoughtfully-produced wines.
