Tocade is a lightly sparkling red wine made from Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes in France’s Vallée du Rhône. Its name means “whim,” hinting at its playful character and the unexpected way it first came to life. Crafted in a Pet Nat style, Tocade undergoes a natural second fermentation in the bottle, giving it a subtle fizz that enhances its vibrant fruit notes.
In the glass, it shows both fresh red and darker berry aromas, joined by gentle floral and spicy hints. The wine also carries a mild balsamic touch, reminiscent of wild Mediterranean herbs. Though lively and bright, it still offers a balanced structure on the palate, making it easy to enjoy in various settings.
If you’re looking for a wine that pairs well with grilled meats or flavorful cheeses, Tocade won’t disappoint. Its approachable sparkle and uplifting fruit flavors create a satisfying match for hearty dishes and good company alike.
