Mátyás Somlyó Pinot Blanc is an expressive white wine from the Strekov region of southern Slovakia, reflecting a deep family heritage and traditional winemaking methods. Crafted organically by the Mátyás Family Estate, this wine comes from 12-year-old vines rooted in limestone, loess, and forest soils. Unique for its blend of traditional and orange (skin-contact) Pinot Blancs, it's partially fermented and aged in Hungarian oak barrels, with part of the wine receiving twenty days of skin contact, adding complexity and a touch of tannin.
The wine is characterized by ripe peach aromas, a gentle saltiness, and a lightly oxidative note that enhances its intensity. It's unfiltered, unfined, vegan-friendly, and made with minimal intervention, highlighting the authentic expression of the terroir. The name "Somlyó" comes from the historical Hungarian name of the hill near their vineyards, further emphasizing its connection to local tradition.
Perfectly matched with white meats, pork dishes in creamy sauces, smoked or aged cheeses, and dried ham, Mátyás Somlyó Pinot Blanc offers a genuine taste of its Slovak roots in every sip.
