Mataburro Otium is a charming and distinctive wine crafted predominantly from Grenache grapes harvested from historic vines planted in 1949 in the Rivesaltes district. These 80-year-old vines contribute remarkable depth and complexity to the wine, capturing the essence of tradition and careful vineyard management.
The winemakers, Laurent and Melissa, use a gentle winemaking technique called semi-carbonic maceration, allowing the grapes just 4 to 5 days of skin contact. This short maceration ensures the wine remains pleasantly smooth and light, avoiding strong tannins. Matured in concrete vats, the wine maintains its purity and fresh character, presenting a beautifully clear and delicate profile.
Mataburro Otium is refreshingly light, almost resembling watermelon in color, and is completely natural—made without added sulfites, filtration, or fining. Its aromatic, lightly floral style makes it highly approachable and delightful for any wine lover looking for a pure, authentic tasting experience.
