This distinctive Macabeu comes from 24-year-old organic vines rooted in clay soils at 316 meters of elevation in Santes Creus, about 30 kilometers from the Mediterranean. The grapes are harvested by hand, then macerated on their skins for eight days without disturbing the cap. After a gentle pressing with a vertical press, the wine rests in stainless steel tanks for ten months before being bottled without fining, filtering, or added sulfur.
Brothers Andreu and Xavi Padró, inspired by Catalonia’s vibrant natural wine movement, founded LaRural in 2018 on their family’s long-cultivated land. Their aim has always been to craft fresh, unadorned wines that highlight the character of the grape and the terroir. The result is a lively white wine with subtle layers from skin contact and a clean, natural profile. It offers an enjoyable glimpse into Catalan winemaking and is especially appealing for those looking to explore the world of minimal-intervention wines.
