Versante Nord Tinto is a captivating red wine from the cooler, northern slope of Mount Etna, where old vines flourish in volcanic soils at high altitudes. Crafted mostly from Nerello Mascalese, with a touch of other local varieties, the grapes undergo a gentle 15-day maceration and spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks. Afterwards, the wine spends 16 months maturing in large old barrels (foudres), gaining complexity while preserving vibrant fruit.

The result is a balanced expression of Etna’s terroir, combining fresh red berry notes with subtle spices and a smoky, mineral backbone that speaks to its volcanic origins. Fine-grained tannins and lively acidity give it a pleasing structure, making it an excellent match for savory grilled meats, mature cheeses, or hearty pasta dishes. Versante Nord Tinto offers a true taste of Sicily’s high-altitude vineyards and will appeal to anyone seeking a distinctive, terroir-driven red wine.
