Pif Purple is a playful Jura red made from two rare hybrid grapes, Léon Millot (red) and Seyve-Villard (a white variety). Grown on just half a hectare of red and grey marl in Saint-Lothain, the grapes are picked by hand, then fermented together in stainless steel, which gives the wine a very bright, easy fruit character.
Didier Grappe farms organically, using only plant-based treatments in the vines. In the cellar he keeps things simple: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, no fining or filtration, and no added sulphites. The result is a light, juicy red that feels close to pure grape juice, with lively acidity and very clean fruit.
Pif Purple is great slightly chilled, especially with simple food and relaxed occasions. It’s a good choice if you enjoy natural wines that highlight freshness, drinkability and a clear sense of where they come from without any heaviness.
