This Pet’Nat’ sparkling wine comes from Landau in Germany’s Palatinate region. It’s made by Claudiu Dumea using a mix of Müller-Thurgau, Scheurebe, Riesling, with a hint of Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer. All the grapes are co-fermented with native yeasts and bottled before fermentation finishes, following the traditional méthode ancestrale.
The wine spends eight months aging on its lees in the bottle, without disgorging, which gives it a gentle, natural sparkle. You can expect fresh citrus flavors like lemon and grapefruit, along with floral notes from elderflower. There’s a lively acidity and a light, milky touch in the finish, balanced by a subtle hint of citrus peel bitterness. It’s refreshing and easy to enjoy.
