La Lierie

La Lierie is an Extra Brut Champagne that takes its name from a local dialect word for tying young vine shoots to their support wires. It is a small detail of vineyard work, but it says a lot about the spirit of this cuvée: careful, hands-on, and close to the land.

Made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it balances freshness with a fuller, wine-like character. Part of the wine is aged in oak barrels, while malolactic fermentation is avoided to keep a clear, lively profile. Long ageing on the lees adds depth and a smooth texture, while the very low dosage keeps the finish precise and dry.

In the glass, it shows fine bubbles and a golden colour. Expect notes of ripe fruit, spice, a touch of vanilla, damson plum, mango, and ginger. The finish is long, fresh, and lightly mineral, making it a good choice for those who enjoy Champagne with both energy and character.
