Mal de Cap is a light-footed red from Espira de l’Agly in Roussillon, made from Pineau d’Aunis and Cinsault. Pineau d’Aunis brings a distinctive aromatic edge—think rosehip and hibiscus—while Cinsault adds soft red-fruit ease. The grapes are fermented with whole clusters and kept on skins only briefly, so the wine stays fresh and lively rather than dense. Ageing in neutral containers (including sandstone amphora in some cuvées) helps keep the profile clean and focused.
Expect notes of strawberry and floral spice, with a gently peppery finish. It’s especially enjoyable served slightly cool, and works well with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled vegetables, or dishes with a touch of heat.
